Chapter 7:
Part 2: The Forgotten Ones
Difficulty: Very Difficult Heroes:
Anub'arak, Arthas Significant
Items: Ring of Protection +4, Medallion of
Courage, belt of Giant Strength +6 Side Quests: Find the Gold Stashes, Free the Crypt Fiends |
The second of this three part chapter is just
as easy... for the most part. However, the final boss is a foe
that's to be reckoned with! You will need to complete this mission
without losses, if you wish to stand a chance in the final
battle... but that's not too bad, when your Crypt Lord now has 26
Armor.
Hero Development Guide: Anub'arak
will Rise to level 7 and Arthas will degrade to Level 4 on this
mission.
Anub'arak: Level 8: Level 2 Impale, Level 3 Spiked
Carapace, Level 1 Carrion Beatles, Locust Swarm
Arthas: Level 4: Level 2 Death Coil, Level 1 Death Pact, Level 1 Unholy Aura
On this Level, Anub'arak has go enough armor to reach the damage
reduction cap. That is, no matter how much Armor a unit has,
he can't exceed a damage reduction of 90%. Therefore, make sure
Hover your mouse over the armor icon to check the damage reduction
percentage of your Crypt Lord.
If the Total Damage Reduction exceed 90%, you're wasting Rings of Protection on him. Instead,
move these to Arthas till Anub'arak has exactly 90% Damage Reduction. For me, this meant
keeping enough magical items to add 7 to the Crypt Lords armor.
With this immense Damage Reduction, Anub'arak has an effective HP
of around 13000! And each Death Coil will heal an effective 4000
HP. What's more, as your Crypt regenerates about 5hp/s, that's
equivalent to 50hp/s! In Short, Anub'arak is tougher than a
Castle... he'll survive anything... well almost
anything.
General Guide: Your primary goal
is to keep all your troops alive till the end. The easiest to do
this is to not let them take part in fights. Use just Arthas and
Aunb'arak till you reach the end boss.
 | | The Crypt Lord has an effective HP of 16000, let him take
the hits! |
1. Crypt Lord
takes the hits, Arthas Heals.
2. Against groups of enemies that managed to take down your Crypt
Lord to yellow, use Locust Swarm
3. Keep Arthas out of direct combat, full stop.
Though the Nerubian City: Simply
follow the red line directed on the minimap. There's a few
obstacles worth noting. Through the mission, there's 5 Gold Coins
to be found, we've also detailed these on the minimap. Be sure to
destroy every crate you see, and you can't miss them.
A: Don't go trough the Death Traps! Take the side passage on the
right, kill the Nerubians. The lever floods and destroys the Death
traps on the right. Now go back and destroy the Rock Chunks on the
left. Switch the second lever, this disables the traps on the
left. Allowing you safe passage. Before you go, don't miss the
Gold coin on the bottom right side of this room.
B: Lots of Nerubians, Locust Swarm time. Rescue a Crypt Fiend,
you'll get the second side quest, which requires you to rescue all
the Crypt Fiends on the level. Destroy the crates to get the
second Coin.
C: Kill the Mudcrabs. One of them drops a Ring of Protection
+4.
D: Get the Belt of Giant Strength +6. Scorpions will ambush you,
Locust Swarm, as usual. Now follow the trail to E, make sure you
pick up the Gold coin as your pass the fountain.
E: As you stumble in, all the hatcheries will release Spiderlings
on you... about 50 of them. Have your Crypt Lord take the hits
while Arthas shuts each of the levers. Impale kills Spiderlings
nicely. Break open all the Egg Sacks to reveal another Gold Coin
and a Medallion of Courage.
F: Kill Nerubians, break crates, get the last gold coin.
G: You fight the faceless ones, they're quite powerful. Ignore the
tentacles and kill the units, Locust Swarm helps. You can then
bring your Crypt Fiends over and kill the Tentacles. At the South
Side of the room, there's a lot of Crypt Fiends to rescue.
Whenever they're rescued, the Tentacles will attack them. Burrow
them immediately to keep them alive.
General Guide: Your primary goal
is to keep all your troops alive till the end. The easiest to do
this is to not let them take part in fights. Use just Arthas and
Anub'arak till you reach the end boss.
1. Crypt Lord takes the hits, Arthas Heals.
2. Against groups of enemies that managed to take down your Crypt
Lord to yellow, use Locust Swarm
3. Keep Arthas out of direct combat, full stop.
Forgotten One A Forgotten One lies
in the chamber beyond. He has 8000 hp, a 10hp/s regeneration rate,
and around 15 tentacles at his command. In addition, he can cast
Flame Strike and Breath of Fire, and attacks with Firebolts that
deal nearly 100 damage (10 to your Crypt Lord!). In another words,
he's tough!
To make matters worse, as soon as you attack him, he will call to
his minions for aid. Level 8 Faceless Tormentors and level 6
Faceless Tricksters will continually stream out of the little cave
at H. Soon, you'll get overwhelmed.
To beat him, gather all your Crypt Fiends, you should have at
least 10. Place them outside the cave entrance at H. Their Job is
to kill each Faceless One as he pops out of the Cavern, before
they're numbers become unmanageable. Don't use your Crypt Fiends
to attack the Faceless one, they'll just get destroyed by Breath
of Fire and Flame Strike.
 | | There a lot of Tentacles, avoid getting your Crypt Lord
surrounded by them. |
Now Engage the Faceless One with your heroes. Use Anub'arak to
dish out the damage, and Arthas to heal him whenever he has lost
over 400hp. You'll find yourself healing as much as cooldown
allows. When Anub'arak reaches yellow health, use Locust Swarm.
Move out of Flamestrikes.
There are a lot of runes all over the room, you need them!
Whenever Arthas gets damaged to red... grab a Rune of Greater
Healing. Whenever he's low of Mana, get a Rune of Greater Energy.
Meanwhile, the Forgotten One will attack your Crypt Lord with all
its Tentacles, then spawn one every 10 seconds or so. Don't bother
trying to kill them all, since he'll just spawn more. Focus all
attacks on the Forgotten One directly.
Don't let your Crypt Lord get surrounded. If all the Tentacles are
attacking your Crypt Lord, you'll not be able to Death Coil him
fast enough to keep him alive. Whenever about 8 Tentacles have
gathered around Anub'arak, move him out and attack the Faceless
one from another side. If he does get surrounded, kill a few
Tentacles to get out.
If you're good with Micro, and pay close attention to your heroes,
you can kill the Forgotten One before all your Crypt Fiends die...
Good luck!
