Chapter 6:
Lord of Outland
Difficulty: Very Hard Heroes: Prince Kael, Lady Vashj, Illidan, Akama
Significant Items: Ring of Protection +5,
Claws of Attack +15 Side Quests: Draenei Village |
This is a rather unique mission in that you
siege a compound, with four fully operating bases, while you
yourself have no gold mine and very limited resources. There's no
harvesting, the only way you gain gold is by picking up scattered
gold coins inside the Black Citadel.
Therefore, this is a cross between a base building and a dungeon
level, you will need to preserve your troops very well, and avoid
all losses. In any major battle, I recommend turning down the game
speed.
Hero Development Guide: Prince
Kael, Lady Vashj and Akama will rise to Level 10.

Spirits, Level 2 Shadow Strike, Reincarnation
To Rely on Shadows: We first note
that Lady Visaj's base cannot be assaulted by the enemy, as
there's water in the way. Hence there's no urgency to control
her... forget about her for the time being. However, there is
definite urgency for your troops on the left side base. There are
Orc bases situated at A and B, who will send down constant
attacks. Unless these bases are destroyed fast, you'll be
overwhelmed.
Take Akama, and the rest of the Draenei, they're permanently
cloaked except during attacks. Do not let these Draenei die.
because of their cloak, they are the only units that can be used
to complete certain tasks in the mission. The Draenei Elite
Assassin can be thought of as Dark Templars from Starcraft, they
deal high damage, but also very weak. The Saboteurs are even
better, and serve as permanently invisible catapults!
When engaging an enemy, surround them first, use Howl of Terror to
weaken them and Healing Wave from the Saboteurs to keep your
troops alive. Monitor their life closely, if any falls to yellow,
press 'i' for Hide, and move them out of the way to be healed.
Draenei will not auto attack enemies unless friendly troops near
them are attacked. On hide mode, they will not auto-attack at all.
Use them to destroy the first Power Gem highlighted on the
mini-map, which allows you access to the green base. On the way,
you may meet a demon patrol. Their leader will drop a Gold Coin.
Now proceed to kill green.
 | | Right Click, then Hide. The Orcs
don't know what hit them. |
Move
your Draenei to the outskirts of their base, away from enemy
troops. Right click on a building, and immediately hide once
they've dealt one attack. Once enemy defences have wondered away,
Use Healing Wave to heal damaged Draenei. Repeat the proceed.
Towers will die to 5 Saboteur hits. To get at the better protected
buildings, such as the Bestiary, you may need to wait for the
enemy to attack, and leave their defences running thin. Provided
you're diligent, you can destroy all the key structures without
any losses. Do not try to engage the units though... just proceed
to the next base.
Before killing Dark Green, destroy the second Powerstone, at D.
This one's guarded by a Level 6 Overlord and 4 of his Level 3
minions, using Howl of Terror and Healing wave, with Feral Spirits
as Meat Wall, you can kill them without losses. Now proceed to
destroy the Dark green base in the same you killed the previous
one.
Defending with Illidan: During
this time, both bases will obviously attack. Each attack will
consist of around 6 Raiders and 6 Grunts, as well as their high
level Blademaster. Illidan, Kael and your human forces will have
to defend against these attacks. The best way you to line Illidan
and the Spell Breakers in a line formation across the doorway.
This minimizes the number of Grunts that can attack your troops,
and also provides easy targets for you to Flamestrike. Use
Metamorphisis to keep Illidan alive. Replace any lost troops, and
build a few extra priests, but try to conserver resources.
 | | By keeping your troops in Line
Formation, you can target their troops with Flamestrike much more
easily. |
The enemy Blademaster will reveal himself as the one that takes
the least damage from Flamestrike, or the one who casts whirlwind.
Once you've identified him, Banish him and drain his Mana with
mana Burn and Mana Siphon. A blademaster with no energy is a dead
Blademaster.
Cleaning up the Western Wing: With
both bases destroyed, you can breath a sigh of relief. There's no
longer urgency. Build a few more Spell Breakers (so you have about
8), coupled with 3 Priests and 2 Sorceresses, use these to clean
up the level. You'll also want Akama to join this great purge, but
keep the rest of Draenei Hidden. They cannot be replaced, have low
hp, and should not be used as casual foot soldiers. Most of the
enemies left are no match for your force and 3 heroes, so I won't
go into it. Just Banish the tough guys, like Doom Guards, Mana
Burn them, etc, etc.
At E, however, is a tough fight, the Butcher from Diablo 2 is
back! This guy has over 4000hp, and can also cast silence. When
you engage, use Akama's Staff of Silence to silence the boss.
Banish him and deal with he's guards. Meanwhile have Kael mana
siphon, and Illidan's Mana Burn to reduce his energy to zero.
Follow this up with Chain Lightning from Akama and Flamestrike
from Kael. When Banish runs out, repeat the process. After a few
times he'll die. Don't worry if you lose a few units, he drops a
Ruin of Greater Resurrection. Pick up the useful item, There's
also 'Wirt's other Leg here', but... somehow, you can't do much
with it.
Oh, a few Eredar Sorcerers may come charging out from the North,
Flamestrike them.
Also, go fight the pathetic guards at F, and free up some
Demolishers. Search through the Eastern Wing, destroying all the
creates, and minions, there's gold coins littered all over the
place. Flick the switch at G to raise half of the bridge to the
Eastern Wing, you'll need Lady Vasj to flick the other side.
The Master of Pain: With all the
gold you found, build up your forces so that you've got 11 Spell
Breakers + Illidan in Group 1, 3 Preists and 3 Sorceresses with
Kael in Group 2. The Demolishers in Group 3, and lone Akama in
Group 4. You're read to take on the Master of Pain.
 | | RThe best way to kill bosses to the
Master of Pain is to banish them... so that they can only use
their spells. Then use Mana Burn and Mana Siphon to reduce their
Mana down right to zero. They're
helpless. |
The Master of Pain himself
isn't that strong, the problem is that he has so many minions with
him, including 2 Level 10s and a bunch of Level 6. Slow the speed
down to Slowest for this fight, Begin it by sending in Akama, we
warn you the Master of Pain can see cloaked units. Use Akama's
Shadow Strike and Chain Lightning to weakened the enemy, once they
chase after Akama, run himself outside. Have Kael Banish the
Master of Pain, followed by a Flamestrike on all his forces.
Metamorphism Illidan, meanwhile have Akama summon Feral spirits
and take the brunt of the damage. He has reincarnation, you see.
Now pull your troops back, your aim is to get the enemy separated,
so that half of his forces, those that are Banished, return to
their posts, while the other half chases you. Gobble them up using
Divide and Conquer. Remember to Mana Siphon and Mana Drain enemy
casters (Such as the Queen of Torment).
Once he's dead, pick up the Coins, the items, and activate the
switch behind his throne. This gives you access to the treasure on
the west of his chamber, including a Ring of Protection +5 and a
Potion of Greater Healing.
Activating the Central Bridge:
Now, turn back to Lady Visage, build more Dragon Turtles and
Myrmidons, also add in 2 Sirens for Frost Armor. Use you force to
take out the Shipyard in the center of the pond. This is a little
tough as the Juggernaut does a lot of damage. Use Sea Elemental to
soak them up, You'll find the Frost Bolt does a great job in
stunning the ships, allowing your Naga to make short work of them.
Use Tornado to kill the Shipyard quickly.
Just up a bit is land, but there'll be swarms of Orcs guarding it.
Move one of your units onto the Shipyard, so that you can see
these units, then pick them off with Snap Dragons and Dragon
Turtles. Their only ranged unit, the Warlock, is no much against
yours. To further shift the odds, use Crushing Wave. Climb onto
land, and heal yourself by the fountain.
 | | Dragon Turtles are great for
Devoring the enemy... and Destroying their
Buildings |
You
don't want to waste too much time, as there's a purple base at I.
Once your troops are healed, wait for their next assault. Retreat
back to see to beat them without losses if you need to. Then
charge in to their base with all you have. Summon Sea Elementals,
and use Tornado and your Dragons turtles to quickly destroy their
key production buildings and altar. Meanwhile your two Royal
Guards and Myrmidons hold enemy at bay use Crushing Waves, Sea
Elementals and Brute Strength.
Forked Lightning the enemy Blademaster, its the easiest way of
telling which one's real. (It takes the lest damage). Gather your
forces, build more, and replenish your life. During this time, you
may wish to kill the Doom Beasts at J, they're like Hydras that
don't split up when they die. Doing so will give you Claws of
Attack +15.
Now journey into the sea at K, destroy the Juggernauts and
Shipyard. Once again, use Tornado. Remember to submerge injure
Myrmidons and Royal Guards. Bash through the mushrooms at K with
your Dragon Turtles, there a Rune of Summoning inside which gives
you a giant Flesh Golem! Give him Frost Armor and he's a killing
machine, Lay waste through their puny defences, and unlock the
other side of the Bridge at G. This allows all your troops from
the other side to pass through. We note, this action will unlock
the AI for the Orc base at M, who will now start training units
and attacking you. However with Naga's and all 4 Heroes, they
won't trouble you much.
Send Akama and his Draenei to N, destroy the powercell that powers
to defences to M. Now repeat exactly what you did before to
sabotage this base. Once most of its defences are laid bare,
charge in and crush their remaining forces. Explore the rest of
this wing for some extra gold and items.
Mistress of Pain: With all four of
your Heroes, the Mistress of Pain will be easier. Once again, use
Akama's Shadow Strike ability to weaken enemy troops. As you run
Akama out, some of the Mistress's minions will follow. Ensnare
them using the Myrmidons to make short work of them.
Charge in all your forces to Engage the Mistress... banish, Mana
Burn... Mana Siphon... she's dead. You've got the Shadowkeys..
Destroy the crates, to free two Chaos Warlocks.
 | | A Magtheridon without Mana is a
good Magtheridon. |
The Death of Magtheridon: This is
final battle, so build up all your forces till you've either
reached 100 supply or used up all your gold. Magtheridon is
heavily defended. Begin by using your Draenei to destroy the Power
Cell at O. Its unguarded! Now proceed to lure out the enemies in
your one, bit by bit. Though its suicide to engage them all at
once, if your careful, you can fight one Blademaster and a couple
of Eredar Warlocks at the same time.
Only Magtheridon has cloak detection, hence you're free to Poison
Strike enemy Overlords and Warlock at will. if you're patent, you
can kill them all (except the blademasters before engagement). The
Blademasters should be banished, and mana drained... with 100
supply, they're easy.
When you Engage Magtheridon, just repeat what you did with every
boss. banish him, drain his mana, while your forces take out his
minions. Except now, you've got Warlocks, so you can also crippled
him. Once he's the only unit left, follow Banishment with a combo
of all your damaging spells, Chain Lightning, Poison Strike, Flame
Strike, Firebolt, Crushing Wave, Mana Burn, Forked Lightning...
he's dead. You win.
Mission Secrets:
1. Head left through the gate at the very start to find a couple gold coins.
2. After heading through the main gates, and then through the first gate on the left, you'll find a familiar face from the Diablo universe: The Butcher! And look, he's even got Wirt's other leg. :p
3. When you reach the bright green Orc base, at the bottom left and right corners, you'll find groups of mushrooms you can cut through to find gold coins. The left one even have some little snowmen in it. :)
4. Not really hidden, but up and then up and left from that Orc base, don't forget Vashj and Illidan can go down the canal to find some monsters/items.
5. After killing the Master of Pain, walk behind his throne to find a floor button, it opens up a passage to the left.
6. On Lady Vashj's side, after you kill the Greater Doom Beast just up and left from the start, destroy the Rocks around the caves to find some nice gear.
7. Just down and right from the Fountain of Health, there's a ramp leading up to a whole crapload of Tomes and a few gold coins.
8. At the top of the first purple Orc base you'll find some explosive barrels, if you destroy them, it will take down all the trees around them, go up through the trees and blow up some more of the barrels just up and right, and you'll find some gold coins and a Shard of Summoning, which gives you a very nice and powerful Flesh Golem.
9. Over to the left of this, over in the water, the grate on the left side is actually destroyable; go through it to find a tome.
