Chapter 4:
The Search for Illidan
Difficulty: Easy Heroes: Prince Kael, Lady Vashj, mojo Dark-Ale
Significant Items: None Side
Quests: None |
This level is probably the most unique out of
all the levels, and also probably the shortest. Provided you don't
make too may mistakes, the game will last no more than 6 minutes.
In fact, it resembles more of a multiplayer scenario than a
singleplayer mission.
Illidan in caged, and you must rescue the cage and bring it back
to A. Maive needs to get it back to B. You control just your
heroes while your troops will be produced for you from A. From
there, then will journey towards B and engage the enemy (blue)
somewhere along the way. You have to evade the chaos of the armies
and get the cage.
For a player to gain control of the cage (where you or Maive), it
is necessary for you to bring a hero near the cage, and for the
enemy to have no heroes near the cage. Once under your control,
the cage will move slowly towards your base. The goal is to
prevent Maive from reaching the cage long enough so that it lands
at A.
While both you and the enemy get reinforcements on this mission,
you will find that on hard difficulty, their numbers are far
greater than your own. Therefore, it is imperative that you use
your only advantage well, you have 3 Heroes, they only have one.

 | | Banish plus Spellfest is the best
way to Hero Kill Maive. |
Taking Illidan's
Cage: The game begins with Maive in
control of the cage, moving it towards B from the center of the
Map. You must engage here quickly, so that the cage doesn't move
to far. Get Kael and Lady Vasj to follow the first wave of Nagas
and use Forked Lightning to destroy any opposition along the way.
Meanwhile get your Panda to make a detor to C and purchase all the
Mercenaries in the camp. Have them and the Panda rejoin your other
hero.
The Mercenaries are exceptionally useful. Not only are they good
fighters, they also have so good spells. The Eredar Warlock has
Parasite, which creates Level 3 Lesser Voidwalkers when enemy
units die. Great for instant reinforcements. In addition his
Fireball Spell will help you kill Maive. The Greater Void Walker
has Chain Lightning, to kelp kill Maive. The Draenei Warrior is
Invisible till he attacks, great for Assassinating the Warden.
Turn game speed down to slow... you need to Micro well on this
level, and its full of action, so you won't get bored.
Now Maive guards Illidan's cage, yes, there's also 2 archers and 2
Huntresses, but they're negligible. Charge in with your heroes and
mercenaries, Banish the Warden. Follow it with Firebolt,
Flamestrike, Forked Lightning, Chain Lightening, and Firebreath.
You're looking at around (100 + 240 + 250 + 100 + 120) * 1.5 = 790
Points of Damage! Once cooldowns have abated, launch another half
round of spells, or focus fire, and she's dead. Gain control of
Illidan's Cage.
Defending the Cage: As Illidan's
cage moves towards your base at the speed of a Reaver, your goal
to hold the enemy back. Though they have a far larger force,
you've got your 3 three heroes, and together with the Naga
Reinforcements, you can keep the enemy at bay for around 2
minuites.
Banish key units like Mountain Giants, and use Flamestrike + Fire
Breath to instantly kill rows of archers from behind. In addition,
Forked Lightning is great against frontline troops as well. Once
you've reach Level 6 with Kael,
summon a Phoenix. Phoenixes deal Magic Damage, which does 200% to units that have Heavy Armor.. such as bears. And
150% extra to Banished units. So Banish a bear and kick it! The battle is highly chaotic
 | | Its a Chaotic Battle... with so
many enemy troops, Tornado is an effective way of causing more
chaos in their ranks than in yours. |
During this time, Lady Visaj may also rise to Level 6. In which
case, have her stand at the back with a Tornado. the Tornado will
tosses enemy units into the air at random... this is a great way
to halt their progress.
Heroes
resurrect almost instantly on this, so Maive will be back within a
minute. Use the Banish + Spell Combo to kill her again, except
this time, have your Phoenix also attack her while she's Banished.
In this fashion, you should be able to kill Maive twice before
blues forces overwhelm your... forcing you to give ground.
Do not be worried if a hero dies, in fact, sometimes it is
beneficial, Considering they get some of their Mana back and all
their life. If a hero was to die during the battle, send them to C
ro recruit more reinforcements.
Once they begin to overwhelm you, that is, all the Naga forces
dies. Turn back, and retreat till you meet us with the next Naga
wave. Turn around, launch a few spells, and fight till the Nagas
are dead and retreat. Repeat this... your aim is to slow their
advance as much as possible.
 | | Do everything youc an to slow the
enemy down in the final minutes... while making sure Maive is
killed in the process. Here, a Panda breathes deadly fire onto the
Warden. |
Once you've got enough gold
and hired as many mercenaries as you can (That is, the enemy has
approached C). You're goal to kill Maive one last time. Remember,
only Maive can retake the cage, so if she dies at this point...
there won't be enough time left for her to reach the cage, and
you've secure your victory.
Focus everything you've got on maive, Banish, Firebreath,
Firebolt, Chain Lightning, Drunkenness whatever, while your small
wave of Naga's hold back their force... which is 10 times larger.
Once Maive dies, you've basically won. Retreat at will... and hold
out as the cage reaches its destination.
