Mission 7: The Ruins of Dalaran

Difficulty: Hard
Heroes: Maive, Furion, Paladin
Significant Items:
Side Quests: Rescue the Paladin

This is a time siege mission, so there's no room for mistakes. You've got 30 minutes stop Illidan's ritual, and he's base is heavily defended by Royal Guards. In fact, destroying his base in time would be impossible, your only chance is a suicide strike that will kill the summoners

Hero Development Guide:
Maive will rise to Level 8 on this Level

    Maive:
Level 8: Level 3 Fan of Knives, Level 3 Blink, Level 2 Shadow Strike Spirit of Vengeance

Bases Defences:
You will be attacked from several directions, A, C, F and G. From C and F comes Illidan and his Sea Which, including Snap Dragons, Sirens, Mur'guls and Myrmidons. Meanwhile, you'll be assaulted by a Level 8 Dread Lord and a Lich from down below.

While your ally, Kael, will not stage an offensive, he will defend both you and his base. However, do not rely on him too much... he gets overwhelmed quite quickly. Start off moving your protectors back to your tree and build a nice row of them, once resource allowed.

Meanwhile, upgrade Beast attack and armor, and your Tree to a Tree of Eternity. You'll want to mass Chimaeras on this level

Rescuing the Paladin
Once Once you've done the above, you'll be notified that a Paladin is caged at B. Should you rescue him, he will join you. I highly recommend doing this quest. this guy's Level 8, and invaluable. Gather your starting forces (except your air units), and proceed via the Blue Dotted line towards B. Make haste, you're depending on Kael to defend your bases while you do this.

Defeat the Nagas at the Gate using Roar and Entangle... remember that Entangle works great on units, and lasts almost long enough to take them out of the battle completely. Use it on the Myrmidons and Royal Guards. Some an Avatar of Vengeance to absorb some damage, and use the Warden's Fan of Knives to kill the Sirens.

Ignore the other prisoners in the prison and go straight for the Paladin. A force of several Royal guards, sirens and Myrmidons await you. Use Tranquility before your engage. Once engaged, get one of your units to destroy gate during the fight, rescue the paladin. He can then use Holy Light to keep your heroes alive. If any units die in the battle, no worries, there's resurrection. Hurry back.. Kael would be getting overwhelmed.

The outer naga bases will fall to just three high level heroes and an Avatar of Vengeance.

Preparing to Attack
Once Build 3 Chimaera Roosts in the middle of Kael's base, they're safest there, start pumping our Chimaeras. Research Acid Breath, upgrade your Chimaeras as much as you can. Build Moon Wells in front of your Ancients when necessary. During in enemy attacks, Entangle Illidian and Dragons Turtles as before. Now you can keep your Warden in the middle of the fray indefinitely.. due to Holy light. Also buy a Orb of Fire for your Paladin from the human shops.. he can now attack air fill the rest of his inventory with Scrolls of Healing and Protection. During each assault, your ally will lose most of forces, Resurrection does wonders to keep him alive.

When you've got an adequate amount of Chimaeras for base defence (6+), spare your three heroes to H. Kill the creeps there for an item and proceed to devastate the lower Naga Base at D. Use Treants as your Meat Wall, your Paladin to Heal (Devine Shield him is he gets too hurt), and your Warden and her Avatar to deal the damage. Remember to entangle enemy Royal Guards and Tranquility if necessary. With just the heroes, you can take out D and I. but do not attempt to assault the main...

Once done, return to base to heal, oh, and you should be building Chimaeras all this time. When there's only 8 minutes left, you should have 12-14 Chimaeras... get read to attack. Also get one Mountain Giant.

Assault on Illidan
Once Gather your Chimaeras at D. Use your Scroll of Protection. Now begin your assault by seeding in your Heroes and Mountain Giant, keep them in Group 1. In Group 2 and 3, and your Paladin and all the rest Chimaeras. Once the enemy force comes rushing out, your Chimaeras should have taken out their perimeter Water Guardians. Cast Taunt with Mountain Giant to draw attention away from your men, use Holy Light to keep him alive for as long as possible. Entangle Illidan.

Meanwhile send your Chimaeras thorough his base, straight for E. Press down shift, right click on all four summoners to queue their attacks. By now your Mountain Giant would have died. Run your Paladin to the summoners on Divine Shield, and use your Scrolls of Healing. You should be able to kill all four summoners before your Chimaeras perish.
