So this probably should have been posted a little while ago, but with the siege of inslamic radicals and me Italy, it kind of got lost in the mail. Lemiwinks has written up a nice account of how one should use the Paladin, dispelling the misnomer that the class is useless in PvP. Be sure to read it!

Fishing Woes - FrostByte @ 18:34:27 EDT
I signed in the other day and looked at my backpack. To my surprise I saw a strange wooden looking object. Now I personally like to have alot of space in my bags and I was curious as to what this thing was. Hovering over it I was surprised to see that it was my fishing rod which hadnt been used in 50 odd levels.

Fishing has lost alot of sparkle recently which has caused alot of players to forget about it. Most people see fishing as a huge waste of time and only really use it to feed their hungry hungry pets or to raise cooking skills (Deviate Delights anyone?). In response to a poll on the World of Warcraft forums, Caydiem has just made a post:

We're aware that fishing leaves a lot to be desired. Our team is on the case, designing improvements to the profession that should hopefully make it more entertaining and rewarding. :)

So have no fear, hopefully we'll see fishing being used again! Personally I'd love to see fishing become more rewarding again.

Engineers' Explosive Extravaganza! - FrostByte @ 16:39:37 EDT
Caydiem has just made a post on the World of Warcraft Community site. Although its a little vague, it gives a good reason to blow stuff up. For details on what I'm talking about click here. Otherwise I'd also like to advise people "Remember, point all incendiaries away from the face."

As an interesting note, remember a few days back when Darkzed reported hidden spells hidden in the MPQ's? It apears these spells are for trinkets from the Darkmoon Faire. You can read about how happy people are about the Shaman trinket here!

And lastly Happy 4th of July to all our American viewers!

Wow Weekly - FrostByte @ 21:59:34 EDT
Eyonix, Community Manager has made an excellent post summing up pretty much all the news for the week in the forums. Such things covered are ideas for a new paladin spell and warlock defense abilities.

I asked the developers if there is currently anything in the works for Paladins. They said that they are playing around with a new spell idea that will give Paladin players more control over there DPS, and that will also give them a way to finish off fleeing enemies. The spell is still in it's early stages of design, but when we have more concrete information we will make sure to let you know.

You can find the list here.

Bringing down the Arcanite Warrior - Deathwing @ 19:25:05 EDT

Arcanite Warriors are currently the flavor of the month, an armored behemoth of death. So how does one counter these in a group PvP battle? Wyverngod has the goods:

Warriors with 6k hp, 5k armor, 200 fireresist are those who have their usual tanking gear on...thats when they have their shield and all the +defense/resist crap on. Many warriors who PvP, leave all that defense crap out and go for the awesome crit gear to become the executioners of the battlefield. That means, they give up those stamina/defense amulets for crappy stats amulet with +1 to crit, that helm with resist/armor for a mail or even leather +1 crit helm! and so on and so forth.
Now, look at this warrior, his gear is so mucho-dps, with that 30-35% crit, he will make your children cry when his arcanite reaper lands on you. However, all of that comes at a cost, he no longer has 6k HP, he no longer has all that armor, he no longer has all that resist. In fact, he is quite weak

Coke and Wow in China - Deathwing @ 22:12:59 EDT
What does WoW and Coke have to do with each other? Well, a lot it seems if you're in China:

orld of Warcraft recently launched with amazing fanfare and success in China. Partnering with Blizzard to usher in this blockbuster launch was iCoke, Coca-Cola's name-brand presence in China. In the weeks leading up to and after the launch, iCoke led the way in promoting World of Warcraft, celebrating the game in real-life replicas of Stormwind Castle and Thunder Bluff, creating a joint World of Warcraft and Coca-Cola televised commercial featuring Chinese pop sensation SHE, and unveiling an iCoke-branded World of Warcraft site. The site is in Chinese, but even if you can't read it, it's well worth checking out.

The official site has put up 80 photos of the event... it almost feels like Korea.

New Starcraft Patch Released! - Deathwing @ 8:52:50 EDT
Blizzard has released a new patch for Starcraft! Yes, 8 years since its release and the game is still being supported. I only wish that my operating system still supports the game. (A notebook running at 16500x1050 does not make Starcraft very big)

Download it here.

Hidden Spells in WoW MPQ - Deathwing @ 8:44:04 EDT
Darkzed has reported spells hidden away in the WoW MPQ File... one for each class. Could these be planned for an upcoming World of Warcraft patch or the expansion pack? Very likely. Given that previously, Infoceptor was able to reveal the Assassin and Barbarian for Diablo II Expansion, the new units for Brood War... all before they were announced, because traces were stored with the MPQ.

Check out the details here.

Monster Resists Nerfed - Deathwing @ 8:22:51 EDT
Much to the delight of mages, it is now possible for them to deal damage to Level 63+ mobs!

Monsters 3+ levels higher than the attacking player were resisting spells at a greater rate than intended. This has been addressed, and players will now be able to land spells with greater success

Boss monsters in Molten Core, Onyxia, Azuregos, and Kazzak had their HP increased to compensate for the increase in caster DPS they will see
.

It's nice to see that Mages may actually do comparable damage to warriors in big raids now.
