And the new Alliance race is..... - stobbsm @ 17:55:17 EST ...the Wisp! That's right, in a surprise move, Blizzard announced that the new Alliance race will be the poen unit of the Night Elves in Warcraft 3. Possessing many unique abilities, such as turning into a tree for a short period of time and being able to Detonate themselves, causing all buffs and debuffs to be dispelled, as well as reducing mana by 50 for ALL surrounding characters, the Wisp should be a valuable part of the Alliance. What we don't know yet are the available classes to the Wisp. My guess? Mage, Warlock, Druid, Priest. We'll see what happens with this new addition to the World of Warcraft. Read the original claim here. |

Ghost Canceled? - stobbsm @ 17:40:48 EST Thanks to a tip from the forum user Kevin_Spencer, I surfed to the Blizzard website and notice everything for Starcraft Ghost is gone. Could this mean Ghost is officialy cancelled? Or is this just in response for the "indefinate suspension" it was placed under? Be sure to keep checking back as I try to find out more information. |

Blizzard is asking for help - stobbsm @ 7:47:04 EST Blizzard wants your guides! Blizzard is asking all avid WoWers who like to write guides to submit profession guides to them. According to the rules they set out on the World of Warcraft main page, your guide must be all about ONE of the professions. I'm going to start on a guide myself, and post it here, in the Infoceptor World of Warcraft forum. If you have a guide, or want to submit one, feel free to use the same forum for yours. Remember to follow all of Blizzards rules when submitting your guide, and Good Luck! |

Yeah, it's down... - Ian_Winters @ 22:32:38 EST I'm positive that I'm in the same boat as each and every one of you readers are currently. That is, World of Warcraft is unavailable for play. I got home from my job this evening and loaded my priest. Much to my surprise, I didn't have to wait long. First and foremost, I realized I needed to update my mods, namely, CTmod. I exited and loaded the CTmod site, and, as no surprise to me, the site was so overloaded that I kept receiving errors. And so, I left my computer for a couple of hours. When I returned, I was able to update my CTmod, and upon attempting to re-log to WoW, I discovered that now the world server was unavailable while more work was being done. What did I discover during all of this? That while millions of subscribers have been desperately pleeing for this patch, regardless of what bugs might be included, there are still yet (against my surprise) bugs which require maintenance. What have I learned through all of this commotion? That when things are rushed, such as this patch, things will always be left undone, and when those certain things are discovered, it becomes a priority to rectify those inadequacies, regardless of the amount of players it might affect. And my advice is? To sit tight and let it be. Flooding the WoW forums will have no affect one way or the other. Should Blizzard have taken more time to test their software? Perhaps. Should the fan-base have allowed more time for this testing? Perhaps. Should we expect more from Blizzard? In my personal opinion (and isn't this what a news-site is all about?)? No. For one, this is hardly different from every other rushed patch in history. Second, when a company is rushed to release a product in order to retain its fan-base, problems are sure to arise. In this case, it is preventing us players from accessing the game. I'm as upset as you, do not misunderstand me, but let us ask ourselves this question: Will complaining about it and threatening to cancel change anything? No. Will standing by patiently while waiting for the problem to be corrected change anything? No. But! Which will be a more efficient use of our time? Let's try standing by waiting. We've all been compensated in the past, let us hold on to hope that we might in return be granted some sort of compensation. In the meantime, I'm dying for some Counter-Strike, who's with me! :P |

Extended downtime - stobbsm @ 18:37:08 EST It seems Blizzard is having some trouble bringing the Realms back up. Being past the "extended maintenance" experation, I'd say their new hardware upgrades didn't go as smoothly as possible. Here's hoping the Realms are up by tommorrow! |

Ghost Postponed, again - stobbsm @ 13:00:03 EST Blizzard has done it again. Anybody remember this game? I'm starting to give up hope it will ever see the light of day. Blizzard has postponed it's development and release indefinatly. In other words, they don't know when it will come out. My Question to Blizzard: Why don't you just shut this down and give us Starcraft 2 already? Kudos to Firefly for the news. Check here to leave your comments. |

Walk of Game - stobbsm @ 7:49:18 EST Starcraft has been inducted into the Walk of Game! This great monument to gamin, located in San Francisco, inducted 6 new stars this year. Most importantly to us, of course, is Blizzard's Starcraft, followed very closely by Final Fantasy (about time), John Carmack (yay doom), Sid Meier, Laura Croft, and Evercrack, I mean Everquest (oops!). I'm really happy the gaming world has this program open for great games and individuals that impact the gaming community so much. And again, it's about time Starcraft was inducted, it's only one of the greatest games of all time! |

Your chance to lay the smackdown - stobbsm @ 7:12:37 EST Do you think there's a few things *cough weather cough* that Blizzard should've added a long time ago? Has a GM done something, or not done something you really want them too? Fear not! You now have your chance to lay the smackdown on them (if your an Alliance Character). For 3 hours, 5pm to 8pm PST on Friday March 10th, all you Alliance people will be able to challenge Blizzard to a game of Warsong Gultch on the Contest Realm. "What's in it for me?", you ask. Do you really need a reason to beat the pants off of the Blizzard dev team? |

Burning Crusade Beta!! - stobbsm @ 21:55:18 EST Blizzard announced today that we'll have a chance to play in the beta of their expansion to World of Warcraft. The expansion, called The Burning Crusade, adds 2 new races, new areas, items, quests and start locations. To get your chance, you need to play the 1.10 test realms with the special "contest" attribute. So far, Blizzard has announced 3 contest types on 2 contest realms. The first is the race to level 50, where the first 1000 players to reach level 50 will be awarded a beta slot. The second is the Battle for the gultch, where the first 500 players per side (Horde and Alliance) will be awarded the beta slot. The third announced contest is the most level 25's contest. I know I would do good there, as I can level to 25 playing casually really easy (with a Tauren!) The contest realms will be up on March 7th, so be sure to log on and get yourself a slot in the beta! |
