Burning Crusade Rogue Guide - Deathwing @ 22:43:00 EST
The FiringSquad has written up a nice guide on how to play the rogue in World of Warcraft, expansion included.

Rogues do have some nice tricks like Sap and Blind, but generally speaking, other classes have abilities that have similar or better effects. Outside of his ability to deal hideous amounts of damage, there is little a Rogue can provide that another class usually can’t match or surpass. This guide will not only help you maximize your damage ability, but also teach you the few tricks a Rogue can bring to a group that help you stand out from your competition. We’ll also teach you how to gear yourself, what the best race choices are, and how to avoid the most common mistakes.

Sounds interesting, read up.

Presidential Hopeful to Introduce Tougher Gaming Bills - Deathwing @ 1:17:40 EST

Kansas Senator Sam Brownback has decided to get tough on gaming as part of his presidential election campaign.

"Video game reviewers should be required to review the entire content of a game to ensure the accuracy of the rating," Brownback said in a statement. "The current video game ratings system is not as accurate as it could be because reviewers do not see the full content of games and do not even play the games they rate." The Truth in Video Game Rating Act would also commission a Government Accountability Office (GAO) study to "determine the efficacy of the...ESRB ratings system."

Essentially, Sam wants to froce the ESRB play each game to completion to give it a rating... rather than just to review the most extreme aspects... wonder how it would work in a MMORPG?

Games in the Mist - Deathwing @ 2:34:44 EST

PC IGN has written up an interesting article where they did a few phone calls, just to check out how some of the AWAL high profile games are coming along. Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, were of course, high on there lists. Here's the verdicts:

Diablo 3:

Blizzard VP Itzik Ben Bassat recently told the crowd at a London WOW: The Burning Crusade launch event, " We cannot wait to be here in a few years, or however long it will be" to announce Diablo 3. "It's won't be a decade," he promised. Meaning either that Diablo 3 would be out by 2010 (ten years after the release of Diablo 2) or that it would be out by 2017, within ten years of the WOW expansion launch. But hey, at least it's coming!

Starcraft 2:

Recently, at an event in London to promote the release of the first WOW expansion, Itzik Ben Bassat gave some hope to StarCraft fans. "I'm a StarCraft player myself and I hope it's not a decade, and we launched StarCraft in 1998, before I'm standing here again, celebrating the next game in the series."

Blizzard COO Paul Sims told IGN last August that, "StarCraft is my absolutely favorite game of all time." Sims added, "I will be the happiest person in the world when we announce StarCraft 2." Sims also mentioned that Blizzard would have a major announcement in 2007, which could mean that either StarCraft 2 or Diablo 3 could get the official thumbs up before year's end. Well, at least that's something.

The articles a pretty good read.

BC Scores Game of the Month - Deathwing @ 3:05:30 EST
Burning Crusade has just been named Game of the Month at Gamespy, making it the best game of January. Lets see if it'll also take Game of the Year!

Gamespy Reviews Burning Crusade - Deathwing @ 1:10:19 EST
Gamespy has written up a review the Burning Crusade, giving it a rating of Outstanding:

But the fact that it doesn't break much new ground doesn't change the fact that Burning Crusade is an overwhelming success: there's enough new content to keep most players busy for months, and many of the new areas and quests easily outclass those of the original. Without tampering with its addictive formula, the expansion still manages to change the landscape so dramatically that it's now virtually pointless to continue your adventures in Azeroth without it. And we're loving it.

Read the rest over here.

Vista and the Burning Crusade - Deathwing @ 0:48:09 EST
Gamespot has written up an interesting article that investigates the performance of various current games on the new Windows Vista. An addict to World of Warcraft? This could be your crutch of whether or not to upgrade.

In summary, performance was relatively the same. However, if you have 512mb of RAM, then upgrading to Vista to play WOW will kill you. So upgrade to 1gb of RAM before even considering that funky new operating system...
