Interesting .sys File - FrostByte @ 18:41:05 EST According to a huge amount of people on the battle.net forums the latest patch from Blizzard has created some kind of .sys file in your temp file. This was not listed on the v1.13 patch information though no one knows what this file does. It has a randomly generated name and cannot be deleted unless you know what your doing. It is however recreated when Warcraft III is run. So far the file seems pretty consistent around the 29kb mark. The file will not have an accurate creation date but is accessed approximately when the newest patch is created. Also the creation date of some files dates before their computer was construced. This file could be related to anti cheats so on but nothing was mentioned in the patch list. It also adds registry files. Alot of posts have been deleted by blizzard as so far no response by blizzard. So far people have been complaining about problems with cd-rom drivers and such. Discuss it here. Or read a complilation so far of problems and things to watch out for here. Let's hope to have the issue resolved soon! |

|
Poll Results - Deathwing @ 0:30:51 EST It's the start of a new week, time for a new poll. Without delay, here's the results to the current one:
It looks like almost 9 out of 10 Infoceptor viewers use 1024x768 resolution or higher, which is pleasing, as that is the resolution the current layout is optimised for. In our process of designing a new layout, we will make sure that it keeps looking best for this resolution. As for 640x480, it's now completely out of date. In response to this, we will in future stop offering wallpapers at such a resolution and aim to get more higher res desktops, for those people with 17'+ moniters! Thanks for your help!

Vivendi Unversal Lay-offs - Spider @ 21:24:59 EST Vivendi is suffering more than we know...earlier today they announced 70 employees were informed of their termination last week after poor financial numbers were released by their games department earlier that week. (A reported loss of over 70 million) The employees came from the branches of VU's gaming department, however, no further specifics were released. Seeing as all branches were affected, we can be certain a few Blizzard employees suffered that fate... The scary part of it all was that no one knew of these upcoming cuts. Nothing was annouced, even internally, no one saw this coming. Makes you wonder what's going to happen to Blizzard, and eventually Vivendi... Thanks to White_Pointer for the news. |

New Poll - Deathwing @ 5:25:22 EST Well, nothing much has been happening in the Blizzard world, so I thought we'd take the time to find out something technical... Whether it is for new designs, or the release of new wallpapers... the resolution that our viewers view Infoceptor in is a big factor. While 6 years ago, when Infoceptor started, the majority had 640x480... things have changed. So we ask you, what resolution do you use? It'll help us customise our content for you! Be sure to vote. |
|
Poll Results - Deathwing @ 5:21:54 EST Start of a new week, time for a new poll. Without delay, here's the results to the current one:
Due to the fact that the poll script was down for the majority of last week, votes were minimal... but gee, ain't we optimistic? Either everyone thinks they'll be hit by a bus this weekend, and Blizzard won't release the patch till Duke Nukem Forever is released. So... don't get your hopes up!
|

Server problems - Spider @ 20:49:41 EST We have been experiencing some server problems over the course of the week, hence the lack of news and other updates. We're working on getting everything back up to speed, so please bear with us. In our downtime a few interesting tidbits have come up, if you happened to have missed them, read on. In regards to Diablo II, numerous accounts (800+) have been closed. These accounts were involved in the realm exploits that were discovered some time earlier. Blizzard has fixed the exploit since then. In WarCraft III news, a new bonus map was released for Frozen Throne called Emerald Garden. Be sure to play it. The WarCraft III Art Tools had a bug which caused them to crash whenever a user tried to alter an attachment object flag. Blizzard has released a new version of the corrupted DLU that was causing the problem, so you may go download it, or simply redownloaded version 1.01 of the WarCraft III Art Tools. Blizzard has also a need of a Lead Game Master for the upcoming World of WarCraft, so go check it out if you're interested. We'll be sure to keep you posted. Just keep checking back, and if you have any questions always be sure to drop by our forums, as we'll answer all your concerns; should you have them. |
