Onyxia Slain! - Frostbyte @ 22:15:16 EST
Onyxia, a dragon found in Swamp of Sorrows has been killed. This is a remarkable feat as it is the first time it has been done. It was accomplished on the Korean beta test. It drops three Epic items and if you can read Korean you can read them here. It also has a picture but congratulations to The Chosen for the first worldwide kill!.

Quest Guide - Frostbyte @ 22:10:24 EST
Blizzard has written up a quest guide and is asking for feedback on it. You can read the guide here or comment here. This is quite a handy guide and I advise new players to have a look.

Localized Patch! - Frostbyte @ 17:28:55 EST
A patch was released in the European beta test yesterday. We can expect this patch on the US version on Tuesday, February, 1st 2005, between the hours of 6AM - 10AM PST.

Not many changes but one signifigant one.

Paladin
Seal of the Crusader: Fixed a bug where damage per swing was increasing instead of decreasing when Seal of the Crusader was active. This resulted in a dramatic increase in damage per second (DPS) that was unintended.

The rest of the upcoming changes can be seen here.

Elite Dragonkin Invades Orgrimmar! - Ian_Winters @ 13:39:40 EST

Heh, that's right folks. Once again, Phantim was kited to Orgrimmar last night.  Only this time, I was online with my level 52 Shaman in Un'Goro, and the lag was unbearable.  At this point, no one really knew what was going on.  It wasn't until the dragon was in the city that I started hearing about it.

Unfortunately, I missed out, for I need to complete a quest, and by the time I hearthed out, he was already slain.  However, I did find some nice screenshots for you who missed it!

Check em out here!

Onyxia Slain by Koreans - Deathwing @ 12:42:04 EST
Onyxia is down, but not by the hands of the American or Australasians..... but rather but the newly launched Korean Server! But is that any surprise? I mean after all, we don't sell Zerg flavoured chips here or broadcast about WoW on TV....

For those who're not aware, Onyxia is the first tier raid boss. While she's meant to be the easiest raid boss, no one has slain her till now... and she drops 3 epic items. Find it here.

Class Bias in High Level Instances - Deathwing @ 3:45:16 EST

High level instances... it's where all the loot is, and where all the action is. With no battleground, and no reliable loot soloing, here's no way to get good loot or have fun at Level 60 other than venturing into instances....

And yet, a lot of classes are missing out. In the first part of a two series, Infoceptor reveals the problem and how it has come about from the machanics of WoW. Be sure to have a read:

By Uldaman your finding that a warrior is very helpful for beating
the last boss...

By Zul'farrak you realize that AOE has become quite a necessity...

By Sunken Temple you realize that to beat Eranickus before Level 5, your going to need a Priest or Druid as the main healer...

By Blackrock Depth, you find that not any AOE will do, by only
mage AOE, and only instant Arcane Explosion will get you through Lyceum.

Find the details here. Be sure to post your comments, and your experiences....

WoW News - Frostbyte @ 22:30:02 EST
From casual browsing of the Blizzard forums I've run a cross a few things you guys might find interesting.

First of all screen shots of Mt Hyjal. Mt Hyjal is where the Burning legion attempted to consume the world trees power and use it for themselves. Lured into a trap by Malfurion Stormrage, Archimond does not succed and is killed, at the cost of the world tree. Although Mt Hyjal is off grounds to players a few still venture here. I do not advise other players look for ways in as doing so may result in desciplinary action from Blizzard.

Next, having troubles saving for that epic mount. Perhaps you're not undead and you just love the undead epic mount. Good news, it drops off Baron Rivendare. The final boss in a high end instance named Stratholme. Sure the drop rates not great, but it's the exact same as an undead epic mount. See a screeny here.

New Poll - Deathwing @ 0:25:38 EST
One of the major outstand issues in World of Warcraft is the instance dynamic, where a group of five must brave dangerous elite mobs.... While this sounds great, there are some classes that's having immense trouble getting into this group of five. The higher level you go, the more balanced the party needs to succeed, placing essential roles upon the Warrior, Priest and Mage...

So in this week's poll, we ask the question, which class would you least want in a party? Vote wisely, for we'll be writing an article on this in future!

Poll Results - Deathwing @ 0:22:54 EST
With the start of a new week, it's time for a new poll. So without delay, here are the results to the current one:

What Faction is your Main Character in World of Warcraft?
Horde   284   35%
Alliance   220   27%
Don't have WoW   221   27%
Rrrggrr...Murlocs!   93   11%

TOTAL

818

100

Looks like despite popular trends, Infoceptor breaks the norm by having the majority of viewers as Horde players. Not too surprising, given that all the staff members here play horde, and Clan Infoceptor horde side in well known in Warsong as having some of the best players.

Remember, if you ever want to join the clan, whisper Winters, Ceptorshock and Frostbite, and you'll be given a place!

World of Warcraft launched in Korea - Deathwing @ 21:15:08 EST

Several months after its release in USA, World of Warcraft has finally stepped through the beta phase and has now launched in full in Korea.

Korea is one of the most well known Blizzard fanatical countries, hosting Starcraft TV shows and selling Hydralisk flavoured chips. Their reception for World of Warcraft is so far very promising:

The launch follows a period of beta testing in Korea. "After receiving amazing response from the Korean community, we look forward to the official launch of the highly demanded World of Warcraft," said Jungwon Hahn, managing director of Blizzard Entertainment Korea.

Details can be found here.

Maraudon Walkthrough - Deathwing @ 17:23:25 EST
I was meant to post this earlier, but the aim to get to level 60 in World of Warcraft was a little much! At any rate, Infoceptor has written up a complete guide to the newest instance in World of Warcraft, Mauradon.

For any newbie to Maraudon, the instance can be sprawling maze, multiple entrance locations, six quests to complete, and no idea where any of bosses are. To make matters worse, there are slimes that do mad damage, groups of elites that can silence...

Yet the instance is also filled with great loot... where are the four bosses the drop guaranteed blue items? Where is Noxxion and the Princess? How does one get the Cerebrus Rod, so he can go straight to inner Maraudon? Find out!

Be sure to give it a read!

Wow Soldout Nationwide - Deathwing @ 21:13:41 EST

If you're still in the process of buying WoW, you might have to hold that thought for a while. Due to the huge popularity and the game and Blizzard's inability to keep up the server bandwidth in demand, they have actually decided to temporarily halt production of the game!

Till Blizzard addresses server issues, the only copies of WoW you'll find are on Ebay, going for average of $75 a piece...

Doing Damage with a Warrior - Deathwing @ 0:56:06 EST

Warrior... doing damage? Oxymoron? But for many good warriors, who specialise in 1 handed weapons and shields so that they can most effectively tank high instance dungeons, soloing has being a real problem due to the speed in which they kills mobs....

In today's tip, Infoceptor reveals a nice trick you can use with your protection warrior to have him deal some decent damage:

Be sure to give it a read.

The AOE Group for High Level Instances - Deathwing @ 22:58:37 EST

As instances rise above the Level 50 mark, they become exceeding long. Indeed, a journey into Blackrock Depth will make you realise how manay elite 5 man pulls you need to do. Typically, this is met with much complaint, for 5 elite mobs do take a while kill... and the same standard polymorph, tank, kill rest gets quickly boring.

In today strategy, Infoceptor presents an alternative method of killing mobs in high level instances, designed around AOE spells. This might seem a little strange, as a typical high level group would yell at a mage for casting AOE...

But provided everyone knows what's going on, it can actually work very well, doubling your speed and making instances a fun experience again:

Be sure to give it a read!

Extreme Screenshot Winners - Deathwing @ 16:09:13 EST
Blizzard has announced the winners to their extreme screenshots competition. Some of these are really quite funny, so be sure to take a look.

NEWS FOR Tuesday, January 4, 2005

New Poll - Deathwing @ 0:18:30 EST
Horde vs Alliance, the classic question! It appears that the numbers are far from equal, and mostly in favor of the Alliance. In some servers, it is reported, Alliance outnumber Horde at odds of up to 12:1! So this time, it's for you to vote, are you going Horde... or Alliance?

Poll Results - Deathwing @ 0:15:20 EST

It's a new week, and time for a new poll. Without delay, here's the results to the current one:

What class do you consider the most overpowered in WoW?
Mage   29   6%
Warrior   20   4%
Warlock   33   7%
Rogue   77   17%
Shaman   68   15%
Paladin   150   33%
Priest   29   6%
Hunter   35   8%
Druid   17   4%

TOTAL

458

100

Interesting results, and it appears that Paladins are far on top of the list! Indeed, we here rumors that the hatred for Paladins are so great on some servers that people sell Mithril Spurs to Paladins at up to 4 times the price they sell them to anyone else! Perhaps it's because these guys can go invulnerable and heal, perhaps it's their free mount, or maybe the fact that they wear plate and yet can perform far more functions than a warrior....

It's also worth noting that the Horde Counterpart, Shaman, while getting its own fair share of nerf complaints, is nowhere near as high... coming, in fact, behind the Rogue.

My take on things? The Game is quite balanced, stop nerfing anyone. The only major balance change required is buffing the Warrior so he can do something in PvP, and giving the Warlock some viable end game pets!

Voice your opinion on the forums!
