Flying Marine Trick Before I write anything else, I'll admit the marine doesn't actually fly. Dissapointed, right? While the marine doesn't fly, the barracks does. It's a neat little trick that my friend, Bloody_Zerg (aka. BZ) showed me. It also works with other terran buildings as shown below. The trick? Push L (lift) then the hotkey of the unit (or upgrade) you want.

You start with a normal rax on the ground.

Push L + M to build a marine. These have to be pushed really fast to get this to work.

The barracks lifts off...

The marine pops out underneath the flying rax.

You can also do this and move the barracks at the same time...

Even though the barracks moved, the marine appears at the original spot of the barracks.

This is a neat trick that you can also do with other terran units. These units include but are not limited to:

Vulture

SCV

Tank

Wraith

Dropship

Notice the two barracks that are next to each other. One is a normally lifted barracks, the other has just performed the marine/lift trick. The normal barracks looks fine, with a large shadow and lifted "legs" (the one on the left). The other barracks has little to no shadow and also looks as though it has landed, the effect it gets once the marine has been built.

This also works with upgrading too. Can you imagine upgrading from the same engineering bay that you use to scout for a tank? The possibilities are endless for the use of it. You no longer have to build 3 engineering bays (2 for upgrades, 1 for scouting). This also works for science facilities too.

Here I'm researching irradiate.

Here I'm researching armor.

You can also make the building "land" on the troop. It's very simple... all you have to do is perform the lift trick and right before the unit appears (and I do mean RIGHT BEFORE) you have it land on it's original spot. The unit will appear within the building. You can do this, for example, with a tank and siege it once it's in the building. Note: this is NOT the invincible tank trick! You can kill the tank, and you can move it out of the factory even after it's landed. However, once you perform this trick the building will no longer be of any use, it cannot build units or lift. However, it is great for disguising units!
