KurenaiJiku (Stuart Ng) is thecreater of a starcraft total conversion called Gundam Century.

This interview was conducted by MukuHunter. My questions are shown in purple and KurenaiJiku's replies are in white.

What motivated you to convertBrood War?

Nothing really. The whole motive of meconverting a game was solely based on the Gundam theme. I was going to convert Warcraft 2at first, but I didn't know enough about game development/editing, nor did I havesufficient skills to create graphics for it.

What are the jobs do you carry out in creating this total conversion?

Everything except sound and Maccompilation. I direct, create graphics, hex edit, create stats, think of ideas, etc etc.

Who are you getting helpfrom on this TC?

When I finish helping Auspex withAntioch, he'll be helping me do sounds and music. And Zileas will play some sort of partin the game balance. Then of course there is Ius, the guy who is giving me advice abouthex editing and SC editing whenever I need it, and OoklaTheMok for compiling the recentMac versions.

Whatare your thoughts about other TC's?

I personally enjoyed WarCraft 3 TC quite some bit. It's arefresher from looking at GC all the time. As for Open Rebellion, I'm stillwaiting for Ash to finish the darn thing or release a beta. I think the graphics arepretty good and respect the TC.

As a whole...however, honestly and frankly speaking...Ashis a bit obnoxious... but that doesn't defer from the fact that Open Rebellion haspotential.

What do you plan to do with Zerg?

Haha well a question asked lateis a better question that was never asked. Uh...with the introduction of Stargraft I'll beable to do pretty close to what I projected earlier in the project's timeline; completingall 3 races. However, due to time constraints, other responsibilities and so forth I'll beputting off the Zerg for a rainy day. It doesn't mean that I won't do them at all.

Smart decision. What are yourthoughts on non-TC campaigns?

Uh...I haven't played many of them...but after TheFenix...uh...let's just say I didn't want to go back "there". I was going toplay Antioch, but Auspex told me to wait till 3 was done. :D

How did you manage to create all the new graphics?

I'm a digital artist/creative entrepeneur soI've been familarizing myself in digital arts school with 3D Studio Max and Photoshop. Ihave to honestly say I'm not very good with Max, but I'm quite sufficient withPhotoshop...that's why I'm getting one of my friends to assist in animating the intro.

Any tips for upcominggraphic artists or custom designers?

Work hard. Don't get discouraged if things aren'texactly going the way you've planned. Stay focused and DO NOT procrastinate...people willaccelerate above you and leave you in the dust. Also, try not to be happy with yourwork...and compete with yourself. It's also a good idea to look at tons of other people'swork and understand why it was produced in such a way. Learning philosophy I personallythink is a must.

Thats some good advice. How long have you played starcraft and do you still play it every now and then?

I've played Starcraft since it came out but I rarelyplay it nowadays. I check out a new game ever so often...but nothing really holds too muchinterest. I recently just got a Dreamcast and for me it's awesome. However, I wouldn't saywhich platform is the best...PC, console, etc...but it's rather the games that make itshine.

Evenwith all this editing of Starcraft/BroodWar do you think that Starcraft/BroodWar is dying?

Dying? I have answered this question before inprevious interviews, but thinking twice about it...SC might not be dying. Starcraft isjust one of those games which doesn't die, but rather takes a breather to take anotherlong term of play. For many people, it's taking a break...but for others, it keeps goingand going and going and going and going...

Whatare your plans for after the TC?

I don't know what I'm going to do exactly...rather I wouldcomment that I can't say what I'm going to do next. I have a rather large agenda in thevery near future and I can guarentee that someone will hear about my projects mostcertainly.

That'll just aboutwrap it up. Thank you for your time KurenaiJiku (Stuart Ng), any last shout out?

Nope...I think anybody who knows me well enough knowsthat "the job" isn't done...so the "celebration" or shout outs don'thappen till the "fat lady sings"...ok this is probably just the sicknessspeaking...but I'd just like to thank all my fans and supporters of GC.
